“Stinky Springs”
“My stepfather who moved to Core Creek after WW2 made reference to a hunting/fishing camp near Core Banks called Stinky Springs, of which he was a member or visited with a member. He said you could smell the sulfur a mile away . Apparently, the camp had a free flowing spring. The Island was small and he said it was completely eroded away in the 50’s.
Walter E. Teich (originally from Chicago) was Bud Daughton’s stepfather. Bud ran the Diamond City ferry to the Cape from Harkers Island.
