Robert Lee Humber

Dec. 21, 1961, Humber and wife deeded their 2,500 acres to the State of North Carolina. (Bk226-p202) and (Bk 3-A–p261). They received $50,000.

A phone interview with grandson, Robert Lee Humber II documented that the land was purchased due to intent for conservation. His grandfather neither hunted nor built any structures on the properties, although others did place structures on Humber lands.

Robert Humber is best known for his efforts to create a World Federation movement that would promote lasting world peace through international law. He also held state political office and was instrumental in creation of our North Carolina Museum of Art. In 1945, he represented the Southern Council on International Relations at the United Nations Organizational Conference.
