Julian Hamilton–pre -WWII
Craig Hamilton does not remember a camp on the banks prior to Evergreens. He remembers more talk of the Cedar Island and Hog’s Island area as grand-daddy Julian’s earlier camp.
A 1933 deed mentions Julian selling an interest in land and house on Core Banks on property adjoining the Lassiter tract. The Lassiter tract at that time came near the site of the Evergreens but also extended far south–to near the “Wib’s Creek” area (named after Wilbur Nelson, one party included on that deed). It seems Julian, Sr. did have a Core Banks presence before the Evergreens.
Lionel Gilgo remembers from his youth that Julian Hamilton had a camp in the High Hills area. Lionel says this was a seperate site from the later Evergreens camp of post WWII associated with Jule, Jr.
