Ammie Loren Willis (1892-1961)–well-known hunting and fishing guide. Regular customers included Igor Sikorsky (aircraft fame), Babe Ruth and Ted Zachary (the opposing pitcher who had thrown “Babe” the pitch for his first and 60th homers in his legendary season).

The Beaufort News said “….Everyone who’s ever been hunting down east knows Ammie Willis of Davis, the oldest hunters’ guides in Carteret County…in hunting season, Cape. Ammie can accommodate up to sixteen hunters in his house for the Core Banks area.”

William Carlie Willis died June 21, 1998 in Davis, N.C. at age 80.
