Upon completion in red brick and activation of the new structure in 1859, the 1812 lighthouse remained in use as the Assistant Keeper’s Quarters.

Views from the top–the lightroom–

Looking south toward the Coast Guard Station, Les and Sally’s dock is seen, the 1907 Keepers Quarters (Barden House) and village is seen
looking more south and slightly east–the Bight to the right and the point fades away in the distance—the author and Gordon Allen were able to do a photo surveyor the Cape structures before the lighthouse was fully closed to climbs
Looking North to South Core Banks-Core Sound to the left
The “Coca Cola House” is seen from the tower–midway between the Lighthouse and the Coast Guard Station
